Power tariff may rise by 15pc next month

Millions had been spent on buying faulty old rental power plants by the rulers and now the public is going to face the raise in tariff further adding to their miseries.



ISLAMABAD: Electricity rates are likely to go up by another 15 per cent or Rs1.20 per unit (kwh) on March 1, mainly because of uneconomic use of fuel and resultant rise in generation cost. “This will be the single highest increase in power tariff in more than 13-year history of Nepra (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority)” since it was created in 1997, a senior official told Dawn on Tuesday.[Read More]
